At the end of every family session, I like to snea At the end of every family session, I like to sneak in a few shots of the parents together because I know it’s not often that they get a nice photo together without the kids.​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​ Sometimes the kiddos stick around to make their parents laugh, or if their attention span is spent we let them explore nearby. Either way, I know both the parents and children will be glad to have these images years from now as they celebrate anniversaries and other milestones.

This family is a great example! Little sister’s dress has green, orange, and cream in the print, which provide the color palette for the rest of the family. Each person has at least one of those colors in their outfit, which visually coordinates everyone. The best compliment you can give a photographer is The best compliment you can give a photographer is trusting them with your memories again and again. 🤍 I first photographed this young man’s family in 2018. Since then, I’ve documented the extended family on both sides, his dad’s military retirement, his sister’s and cousins’ senior portraits, and now his own senior portraits. Like most teen boys he wasn’t super excited about being the focus of a session, but because he’s been in front of my lens for years, he knew what to expect which allowed him to relax and be himself. That’s the quiet value of a long-term relationship with your photographer. And when the next milestone comes, you don’t have to go searching for someone new. You already have someone who knows your people, your humor, and what matters most to you. 📷

While the thrill of the find is addictive, the best part is imagining the memories each piece will be part of. Birthdays, holidays, senior year, new babies, milestones I haven’t even dreamed up yet. Not every session goes according to plan — and tha Not every session goes according to plan — and that’s okay. 🌧️ The weather wasn’t cooperating, and their schedules didn’t leave much room to reschedule. So we went for it anyway. Lucky for me, I truly do! 📸 Some days I’m crouched in the mud chasing the perfect angle, other days I’m dancing like a monkey to make the little ones laugh (the adults too — no shame here!). It’s truly a gift to be invited into your lives and document your milestones — big and small. Weddings, baby bumps, graduations, family portraits, and “just because” sessions — thank you for choosing me to capture your best moments.
